The franchisee owns and operates the business using the licensed business model. In this business relationship, the franchisor provides the franchisee with guidance, support, and training necessary to run the franchise successfully.

The franchisee, on the other hand, pays the franchisor an initial fee and ongoing royalties in exchange for using the licensed business model and the other support provided.

A long-term agreement protects you as the franchisee as well as the franchisor. Franchise opportunities can be expensive, and you will want to protect your investment.

Also included will be conditions for renewing. Often an initial 10-year term can be automatically renewed for a second 10-year term unless either side gives notice of non-renewal.

The method for calculating franchise fees is to set a percentage of the income, or gross revenue, of the franchise.

The franchisee can pay this amount on a monthly/quarterly
basis

When we calculate the franchise fees with our franchisees, we make sure that we reach an agreement that is satisfying to both parties.

Franchises offer the independence of small business ownership supported by the benefits of a big business network.

You don't necessarily need business experience to run a franchise. Franchisors usually provide the training you need to operate their business model.

Franchises have a higher rate of success than start-up businesses.

You may find it easier to secure finance for a franchise. It may cost less to buy a franchise than start your own business of the same type.

Franchises often have an established reputation and image, proven management and work practices, access to national advertising and
ongoing support.

Finance is a personal option for a franchisee. As long as you can comfortably pay your expenses then it is up to you how you source the money to fund your business.

The franchise agreement outlines the costs of franchising ownership. All franchises charge fees.

These include the initial franchise fee, as well as ongoing fees such as the monthly royalty fee, advertising or marketing fee, and any other fee.

Agreements can include late fees and interest. Franchisees who fall behind could find it that much harder to catch up once late fees and interest start piling up.

The contract will also cover any required expenses and who is responsible to pay them. For example, the franchisee may be responsible for paying for training, and for the travel expenses of employees to attend training.
