Admissions Policy
1. Purpose
At Edu Fun Nursery, we are committed to fostering an inclusive approach to admissions for both our nursery and after-hours care.
This policy outlines the principles and procedures governing our admissions process to ensure:
Fairness
Compliance with regulations
Effective management of resources
2. Nursery Admissions
Admissions at Edu Fun Nursery are open to children aged three months to four years.
We adhere to the legal space requirements outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), considering staff-to-child ratios and the facilities available.
Admission Criteria
Places are generally offered on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on space within the relevant age group.
When a waiting list applies, the following priorities will be considered:
Children currently attending who are increasing their sessions
Children with siblings already attending the nursery
Children identified by the local authority as having special educational needs and/or a disability (SEND) whose needs can be best met at Edu Fun Nursery
Children whose parents reside within the local area
Children whose parents work within the local area
Additional Considerations
A child requiring a full-time place may take precedence over one requiring part-time.
Full-session and year-round bookings are prioritized over part-session and term-time-only bookings.
Commitment to Inclusion
We operate an inclusion and equality policy to ensure all children have access to nursery places and services—regardless of gender, race, disability, religion, or belief.
Registration Process
Before a child begins at the nursery, parents must complete and sign:
A registration form
A contract
These include essential details such as:
Personal information (name, date of birth, address)
Emergency contact details
Parental responsibilities
Collection arrangements
Fees and session details
Parental consent
Dietary requirements and allergies
Vaccination records (required for the nursery clinic)
A non-refundable registration fee is required to secure the booking.
3. After-Hours Care Admissions
Children attending after-hours care do not need to pay an additional registration fee.
Admissions are managed on a first-come, first-served basis. During peak demand (e.g., school holidays), places will be allocated in the following order:
Nursery children currently attending Edu Fun Nursery
Children of Edu Fun Nursery employees
Holiday club children from other nurseries (subject to registration form and fee)
Children transitioning from Edu Fun Nursery to school
Booking and Cancellations
All sessions must be booked in advance
Prompt communication is required for any cancellations
Registration fees are non-refundable
4. Final Note
Edu Fun Nursery is committed to maintaining a transparent and equitable admissions process that serves the needs of children and their families.
We comply with EYFS standards and local regulations, and we regularly review and refine our policies to ensure high standards of care and inclusivity.
